En Marzo del 2001 se estableció la empresa ECO-TEC Soluciones Ambientales en Honduras, Centroamérica, con la finalidad de prestar asesorías en materia ambiental en manejo y aprovechamiento de residuos sólidos. In March 2001 the company was established ECO-TEC Environmental Solutions in Honduras, Central America, with the purpose of providing advice on environmental management and utilization of solid waste.

Nació como una respuesta a la necesidad de Andreas Froese de dar respuesta innovadora y dinámica a la problemática de la “basura”, ECO-TEC inventó esta técnica única que permite evitar al máximo el cemento y bajar los costos de la construcción hasta en un 40% de los costos tradicionales. Nuestras consultorías desarrollan conciencia ambiental logrando una mirada positiva hacia la “basura”. Our consultants develop environmental awareness achieving a positive view towards the "trash."
El eje central de nuestro trabajo es la Bioconstrucción y Ecodiseño donde la basura es la materia prima para construir casas, muros y tanques de reserva de Agua, ect. En la Bioconstrucción se utiliza la técnica ECOTEC que consiste en usar la botella plástica desechable de PET para reemplazar al ladrillo. En los últimos 7 años ECO-TEC ha desarrollado diversos proyectos con una visión integral, donde se atiende simultáneamente medio ambiente y desarrollo social. Se han construido más de 50 obras y trabajado con muchas comunidades en diferentes países como: Honduras, Bolivia y Colombia, con el sistema de autoconstrucción y la metodología de Aprender Haciendo. Diferentes organismos nacionales e internacionales han sido parte de la realización de estos proyectos; Banco Mundial, Trocaire, Club Rotari International, Apso, entre otros. Además desarrollamos proyectos exitosos ya gran escala de transformación de material orgánico de origen doméstico y animal, por medio de compostaje y lombricompost. Otra propuesta innovadora es el “Barrio Verde”, la que tiene como fin que los habitantes de los barrios, con el apoyo de los recicladores manejen y aprovechen sus desechos domésticos de manera local.
